About me and the blog

My name is Marcin Wichary (he/him). I’ve worked as a UX designer, typographer, front-end person, and manager at Google, Medium, and Figma. I’ve also written a book about keyboards and typing, gave talks, and published essays about design, typography, and technology.

Unsung is my blog about software craft and quality.

AI policy

No generative AI is used in writing and designing Unsung, in any capacity. Every word is written by me, and everything is designed by me in code/CSS by hand, or in Figma.

No generative AI is used in creating visuals or videos for Unsung. Occasionally, a “classic” (ML-based) content-aware fill is used for cleaning up photos.

Some generative AI tech has been used in building some tooling for the blog – the menial back-end stuff, and in large part out of professional curiosity of the experience and the UI of using those technologies.

I occasionally use AI for search and research in the same way I’d use Google before. My policy is not to take the results at face value, and double check everything afterwards.

I generally avoid linking to AI-generated writing and design to the extent I can spot it, partly out of general concerns, partly because this feels incompatible with this blog’s purpose, and partly because most of it feels unpleasant to consume.
